You're sprite will show a notification if you're standing on it, and there's an invisible floor associated to that location. As for the top level map, the lightly drawn squares will indicate which sector of the zone you're in, but you'll notice the image of Drifter doesn't actually corespond to where you are in said sector. Most of the signs are discreet, with the exception of the little square or set of 4 squares on the ground. They're usually precursers to the "holes" in the walls. Sometimes you have to go east to get west kind of thing, and occasionally, there are secret tunnels that let you bypass the longer trek, if you can find them.įor the mentioned secret areas, look for abnormalities on the floor, and indentations in the walls. Caveat being that the map isn't always straight forward. The square that represents the elevator does directly correspond to it's location on the surface map, and can grant insight as to where it will lead you. The graphics are pretty awesome for the most part, but tbh, if they had been a normal retro style this game would not have kept my interest at all. I don't need my hand held, but if you are going to make a game that relies heavily on visuals you need to put in the extra time to look at things from the persepctive of a gamer and make sure there is clarity. I have to stare hard at some of them to tell what the ♥♥♥♥ I am looking at. That is a problem with a lot of the dialog pics. They tried a little too hard to show off their fancy artwork and didn't take a step back to realize that many things just appear to be a cluster-♥♥♥♥ of pink and greys. It's great if you don't want to have a map that directs the player to wherever he wants to go, but what the ♥♥♥♥ was the point of the map they put in this game? It makes zero sense and the game would have been fine without. In some areas this game does that well, but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in other areas. Look, it's cool when you have a game that lets you learn as you go.
